When you rent an apartment in Athens, Georgia you most likely have signed a year long lease. If you previously lived in the dorms or at your Sorority/Fraternity house this may very well be your first summer spent in Athens. If the rising temperature and pollen count haven’t tipped you off, you’ll know it’s summertime in Athens when…

…you instantly have a table at Last Resort on a Friday night.
…your travel time is cut in half because less people are talking on their cell phones while driving (akin to rubbing their tummy and patting their head).
…you don’t have to race for the empty downtown parking space as the light turns green.
…you attempt to float down the Broad River but get stuck on rocks every five minutes because the water is too low.
…you have memorized all the apartment gate codes so that you can lounge by a new pool every day after your Maymester or Thru Session class.
…Jazzy Jay sightings are more frequent because he doesn’t have to look after the twins Samantha and Tamantha because they are at day camp (duh!).
…the word SLICK is uttered, people are actually talking about something slippery rather than the SLC (formally known as, but will forever be in our hearts)
…you’ve made significant progress on your Broad Street Grill 101 Shooters Card and your Pauley’s Around the World Beer Club membership. (That is, if you’re legal!).
…you can use an elliptical at Ramsey. C’mon guys, you know you want to use them too.
…you can spot an incoming freshman downtown because they forgot to take off their red orientation name badge.
